Employee Handbook

In the spring, big companies come and wine and dine fine ACU business majors. They pay their travel expenses, put them up in a hotel and treat them to some of the finest restaurants. That's all fine and good.

And what do prestigious future teachers receive? Well, today I learned the answer. Here it is my friends...

Who needs a fancy steak dinner when you can have a pen, nail file, and an employee handbook?! Not me. I couldn't be more excited, even with red carpet treatment! Besides, I really do need a nail file. I had to borrow Kylie's the other day. See, Mesquite meets all of my needs.

All this to say...I HAVE A JOB!!! I am employed! I say that mainly for my own good because I find that seriously hard to believe. I will be teaching 8th grade English at Agnew Middle School in Mesquite. I signed an "employment commitment" back in April, which secured me a position with the district, not with a specific school. While I was excited, I felt like that wasn't a real job. So now that I know the campus, it's more exciting to tell. I signed my contract today, thus all the goodies.

So, to recap: I'm a teacher. A school and parents are entrusting children into my care. I am going to teach them things. Weird, weird, weird.

**Also, sorry about the "I'm going to be a faithful Friday blogger and show you our apartment- not". I didn't forget about the living room on Friday, but I also didn't forget about the bare walls and lack of chairs for the dining table. I will post pictures, but maybe not as faithfully as I once thought. Our little apartment won't be complete until our little roommate trio is complete. Hurry home Jo!**
