The weekend started on Thursday (that's always fun!) with bride-to-be Jamie's bachelorette party. Some had sushi in Sundance Square in Fort Worth. I had HOT teriyaki chicken.
The next night was the wedding rehearsal and dinner. When we got to the church, we quickly realized that the air had been turned off. We spent the next hour and a half generating a breeze with makeshift fans. This was probably the peak of a HOT weekend. We perfected our entrance, hopped in our cars, cranked the AC and drove to the rehearsal dinner where the only thing that was HOT was the lasagna.
The next day began early with hair appointments. I explained to the lady that did my hair that it would still need to be lookin' good 12 hours from now. She took me seriously. She used this glue/water mixture that she called "hair spray". I thought I was going to have to use dish soap to get my hair clean. We got to the church in time for a late lunch. Then we got ready for pictures. Being the low maintenance girls that we are, we had lots of time before pictures so we had a little dance party.
1 room + 4 hours + lots of hair spray = restlessness inspired dance party
It was so fun and continued until we got HOT. The wedding was beautiful, and Jamie was gorgeous, which I totally expected.
The reception was at Jamie's house under a big tent. You would think that being outside in June would be too HOT to handle, but it really wasn't bad. Luckily, I had gotten over my sentimental moment. Otherwise, I would have been a sappy bridesmaid at the reception too. I've spent many HOT, summer evenings at Jamie's house eating outside and watching fireworks.
Just when I thought my HOT weekend was over, I got to church to find the doors swung open. The electricity was out in Kaufman. Over a 160 people in a small auditorium without air is HOT, especially when you add the 5 year old who wanted to sit in my lap.
I wouldn't change my HOT weekend. After 22 years, I can stand the Texas summer heat.
Suz! I didn't know you had a blog!!! I was delighted to see your comment. I am very excited to read about your school year. I miss you so much and I hope things are great. Phone date soon???
