Nope. I'm not announcing travel plans. But I did get a little taste of Vegas Sunday night when my family and I went to see Tuna Does Vegas. From an early age, I have loved Tuna. I'm not talking about fish. You see Tuna is this fictitious little (and I mean little) town in West Texas. It is filled with colorful characters.
The amazing thing is that only two actors, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams, act out all the residents of the town (about 22 in all). There accents are perfect, their costume changes are lightening fast, and the dialogue is too funny (kinda bad, oh so true, and absolutely funny). The reason why it is so funny to me is because I grew up in a small town. For better or for worse, I identify with these characters.
In junior high, Jamie and I would have a Tuna weekend annually. So in college, we were eager to share this undiscovered comedic genius with others. It went unappreciated. We watched it with city-slickers who just didn't get it.
As for Tuna Does Vegas, it was not my favorite. They added in some new "Vegas" characters that I didn't think were as funny. You just can't beat classic Tuna. My hands down favorite is Tuna Christmas. Some people gather around as watch It's a Wonderful Lifee, Miracle on 34th Street or even National Lampoon's Christmas. But I celebrate the season with the Tuna's yard decoration competition, Jo Bob's Christmas pageant, and the Smut Snatcher's Amendments to A Christmas Carol.
DiDi, Vera, and Pety Fisk, I've missed you!
Suz! I'm so jealous! I'm glad you got to see it! In a way, I'm also glad that it doesn't trump Tuna Christmas. We will have to make plans to view that together this Christmas! Ha-ha, why oh why don't other people recognize this comedic genius?
