I have a friend who used Voicethread in her 7th grade Reading class. After looking through her student's projects, I checked out the site myself. I like the idea of students being able to narrate their their writing and sharing it. This could be a great medium that allows their voice to be heard.
I found the video "How to Create a Voicethread in 1 Minute" to be very helpful. It showed that students could easily have created a Voicethread in the confines of a class period. We spend much time pre-writing, drafting, and editing our essays. To have a finished product is an accomplishment to be celebrated. Students would take more pride in their work if they were given a global audience with which to share their work.
